Visiting a church can sometimes be a little overwhelming. If this is your first time as a guest, you may have lots of questions. What time is service? Are there classes for children? Are there activities for young adults and college students? Are there weekday activities?
At First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) we seek to glorify God and edify humanity through both “in reach” and “outreach” ministries. We are serious about our Lord’s service and there is plenty of room for more dedicated disciples in our quest to become one of the most loving churches in the world. This page offers you a starting point with answers to some of the first questions you may have. Should you have specific inquiries, please contact the church office at (256) 852-4318.
Please join us for any of these opportunities to grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ!

What We Believe
We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us, and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried.
We believe the Scriptures teach that there is one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, whose name is Jehovah, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor confidence and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
We believe the Scriptures teach that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by his laws; and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in by them by His Word; that its only scriptural officers are Bishops or Pastors, and Deacons whose Qualifications, claims and duties are defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus.
We believe the Scriptures teach that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, unto the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost; to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, with its effect, in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation; and to the Lord’s Supper, in which the members of the church by the sacred use of bread and wine, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ; preceded always by solemn self-examination.
We believe the Scriptures teach that the end of the world is approaching; that at the last day, Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave for final retribution; that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked will be adjudged to endless punishment, and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgement will fix forever the final state of men in heaven or hell; on principles of righteousness.

Christian Education Classes
Our goal is to provide biblical teaching for persons of all ages that will help them to gain an understanding of who they are as children of God; learn more about the transforming power of God’s presence; and discover how to live as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Congregational Care Ministries
At First Missionary Baptist Church, we take a personal interest in the well being of each member and their family. Our Health/Fitness/Aerobics Ministry creates a Christian setting for learning practicing and maintaining healthy bodies. We also help ill, disabled and aged persons maintain their independence by delivering nutritional hot meals Monday through Friday through our Meals-On-Wheels Ministry. Our Cancer Support Ministry, Project Love Ministry, Bereavement Ministry and Lay Ministers are support groups that help you through the challenging circumstances and difficult seasons of life. Because fun and fellowship are important for spiritual growth, our Recreation Ministry organizes both in town and out-of-town recreational activities. For information on our ministries, go to our Ministries page and contact the person linked to the ministry. Our pastoral staff is also available to discuss a variety of personal and relationship issues. Call us at (256) 852-4318.
Fellowship of University Students
First Missionary Baptist Church is committed to meaningful and ongoing fellowship with college students in the greater Huntsville area. Toward that end, the Fellowship of University Students Ministry invites all college and university students to take part in this Christ-centered ministry. In addition to college-age study classes, we operate an Adopt-A-Student Program, provide a monthly fellowship dinner every 3rd Sunday at FMBC, and host an Annual Back To School Block Party at Alabama A&M University. Our mission is to nurture and develop college and university students spiritually, socially, educationally, emotionally, and culturally. Go to our Fellowship of University Students page to learn about more activities.
Our Keenage Ministry is designed to meet the growing needs of our Senior Saints.
We encourage you to join in! Use your time and talents to glorify God and improve the lives of those in our community through the many activities, services, and ministries at FMBC.
